lexxx666 Rich, DUUUUDE!!! This is probably your best, most heartfelt song of your bandcamp singles. Lost a dear friend a couple of months ago. Was in tears by the end of the 2nd verse. You've written a song that'll stay with me forever. From the bottom of my heart. THANK YOU FOR WRITING & RELEASING THIS ❤️‍🔥 all the best from Vienna. Alex

PAWN SHOP HEART (Jones) I got that sudden surge of sadness In the pale white morning sun Like a torn out page from touring days long gone ‘Cause you were Philadelphia through and through Like Rocky on the steps But no one ever told me it would sting like this And as the day rolled on I watched the moon and the stars eat the sun Until we caught ablaze and we left it on that stage CHORUS: Didn’t you say “no turning back now”? Didn’t you say we won’t forget those memories that keep us going Like rock & roll on the radio Didn’t you say “no turning back now”? Didn’t you say we won’t forget the times we had that shine like gold? My pawn shop heart’s got another hole Another Valentine’s day morning And the wind cuts to my bones And some distant fire fills my lungs with smoke ‘Cause there’s a million ways that things have changed But you still stayed the same Caught in time in a funeral picture frame And as the day rolled on I knew we’re missing the heart of that song ’Til the Dice got played and we left it on that stage CHORUS: Didn’t you say “no turning back now”? Didn’t you say we won’t forget those memories that keep us going Like rock & roll on the radio Didn’t you say “no turning back now”? Didn’t you say we won’t forget the times we had that shine like gold? My pawn shop heart doesn’t need another hole Didn’t you say “let’s never forget this”? Didn’t you say we’d always be those kids? Sure ya did… Didn’t you say “no turning back now”? Didn’t you say we won’t forget those memories that keep us going Like rock & roll on the radio Didn’t you say “no turning back now”? Didn’t you say we won’t forget the times we had that shine like gold? My pawn shop heart’s never letting go…

Last year, the morning after Valentine’s day, I woke up to the news that my friend Roger ‘Rags’ Segal had been killed on his way home from work in Philadelphia. There was an outpouring of grief and love from the music community - Roger was a bandmate and a friend to so many of us, a lifer in the truest sense. In the months afterward I wrote this song with him in mind and I reached out to a few of our mutual friends to lend a hand with some playing and singing. So many people were happy to step up and lend their talents and their time because they all loved Roger… and this is the result.

I gotta say a huge thanks to everyone who recorded something for this: My Black Halos bandmates Billy, Jay and Danni; Dave Kerr, who played alongside Roger in Sorry & The Sinatras; Billy Liar, our old friend and touring mate; and Christian Martucci, who not only sang on this but also volunteered his time and patience to mix it.

The money raised from this single will be donated to the Philadelphia Eagles Autism Foundation, a charity that was important to Roger. www.philadelphiaeagles.com/eaglesautismfoundation/
